Published June 18th, 2025

Predominant Race and Ethnicity (Census 2020) is an interactive web map that displays the most represented racial or ethnic group within each census block across the Delmarva Peninsula, based on data from the 2020 Decennial Census (P.L. 94-171 Redistricting Data). The application uses color-coded symbology to indicate the dominant population group in each area, revealing demographic patterns at a highly localized scale.

This visualization offers a spatial understanding of racial and ethnic distributions, supporting initiatives in equity planning, outreach strategies, public health, education, and resource allocation. By identifying predominant population groups and their geographic concentrations, users can gain valuable insight into community composition and cultural diversity.

Key Features:

  • Predominant race and ethnicity visualized down to the census block level
  • Color-coded map legend for each demographic category
  • Strength-of-predominance shading to show diversity vs. homogeneity
  • Layer toggle controls for easy exploration
  • Interactive pop-ups with demographic breakdowns
