Population Density, Census 2020
Published June 18th, 2025

Population Density on Delmarva (Census 2020) is an interactive web map developed for the Delmarva Index to help users explore how population is distributed across the region at both the census tract and block group levels. Powered by 2020 Decennial Census P.L. 94-171 Redistricting Data, this map provides a granular view of where people live—highlighting areas of higher settlement concentration versus more rural or sparsely populated zones.

With intuitive symbology and detailed geographic boundaries, users can toggle between scales to see total population counts and density values in various areas. This tool is ideal for planners, researchers, nonprofits, and public officials seeking to identify growth areas, service coverage gaps, or urbanization patterns.

Whether used for grant writing, infrastructure planning, or community needs assessments, the map supports informed decision-making through clear visualization of population density trends across the Delmarva Peninsula.

Key Features:

  • 2020 Census population density by census tract and block group
  • Custom symbology to reflect levels of density
  • Interactive pop-ups with population count, land area, and density values
  • Layer controls for toggling geographic levels and exploring specific locations
