Mapping Census 2020 on Delmarva

Mapping 2020 Census on Delmarva is an interactive StoryMap developed for the Delmarva Index, designed to empower residents, businesses, policymakers, and nonprofit organizations with accessible, data-rich visualizations. The tool presents key findings from the 2020 Decennial Census (P.L. 94-171 Redistricting Data), offering insights into population totals, race and ethnicity, age distribution, housing occupancy, and group quarters.

Organized by topic—Population, Race and Ethnicity, Age, Housing, Group Quarters, and a Map Collection—this StoryMap provides a comprehensive overview of demographic patterns across the Delmarva Peninsula. The maps are intended to support data-informed decision-making, community development, and grant writing, helping stakeholders advocate for equitable resource allocation and infrastructure planning.

This tool focuses on 2020 redistricting data, which, while limited in detail, delivers a crucial snapshot of population shifts. It complements other data sources like the American Community Survey (ACS) by offering official, full-count census results that guide congressional apportionment and federal funding distributions.
