Promoting data and information to improve
decision-making for all Delmarva.

The Mid-Shore Regional Council and the Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, with support from the Rural Maryland Council (RMC) through the Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund (RMPIF), have partnered with the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative to develop tools and resources custom built for the residents, businesses, and community organizations on the Delmarva Peninsula. Project partners recognize and offer solutions to meet the challenges facing the Delmarva region due to its unique geography and political boundaries. The Delmarva Index is a recent example that lends a new and much needed regional perspective to planning and decision making.

The long-term vision for the Delmarva Index is to serve as an online data repository and visualization tool that will function as a comprehensive data source for demographic, economic, geographic, and social data, pertaining to the Delmarva Peninsula. It will provide users free and easy access to a curated list of relevant datasets and custom visualizations. Partners believe that better access to and visualization of data will facilitate data driven decision making and improve communication.

The MSRC and TCCLES utilize their respective Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund (RMPIF) funding to support this initiative. The RMPIF is administered by the Rural Maryland Council (RMC).
