Farms and Farm Acreage for Mid-Shore Counties
Published June 17th, 2025

This interactive dashboard illustrates long-term trends in farm operations and land use across Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot counties based on data from the USDA Census of Agriculture (1992–2022).
The top chart tracks changes in the number of farms, while the bottom chart visualizes total farmland acreage over time. Users can explore how each county's agricultural landscape has evolved, noting patterns of consolidation, land preservation, or shifts in land use intensity.

This tool supports planners, agricultural stakeholders, and policymakers in understanding regional dynamics in farming activity and land availability—key for shaping land-use policies, conservation programs, and economic development strategies.

Key Features:

  • Trends from 1992 to 2022
