Agricultural Census Dashboard
Developed by the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC), in collaboration with the Mid-Shore Regional Council and the Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, the Agricultural Census Dashboard delivers a dynamic and accessible overview of key agricultural indicators across the state of Maryland.
This interactive dashboard empowers farmers, policymakers, planners, and community leaders with data-driven insights to support strategic decisions. It visualizes core agricultural metrics, including economic trends in farm sales by commodity, production expenses, income from farm-related sources, and the distribution of farms by sales value. Additional indicators include federal government payments, demographic characteristics of producers (age, race, sex, tenure, and residence), selected harvested crops, vegetable, fruit, nut, and berry farms, livestock characteristics, and agricultural practices such as fertilizer use, land management, organic farming, and more.
Users can explore:
- Income and Farm Expenses (2012–2022): View trends by county or region, with comparisons to statewide averages and detailed overviews for each selected metric.
- Demographics of Producers: Analyze characteristics such as age distribution, involvement in decision-making, tenure, residence, race, and more.
- Harvested Cropland: Identify key commodities unique to the selected county or region.
- Livestock Inventory and Farms: Spotlight leading livestock operations and trends across the region.
