The Owner vs. Renter dataset is based on occupied housing units. According to the census, a housing unit is owner occupied if the owner or co-owner lives in the unit even if it is mortgaged or not fully paid for. Renter occupied homes are classified as occupied housing that not owner occupied. This dataset includes the years, 2000, 2010, 2017, 2018, and 2020.
