Total Crime Rate per 100,000 people for Mid-Shore Counties
This interactive chart provides a focused snapshot of the total reported crime rates per 100,000 people across Maryland’s Mid-Shore counties—Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot—for the years 2023 and 2024. Drawing from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), this visualization enables users to monitor how overall public safety metrics are shifting at the county level.
Each county’s trend is displayed with a distinct color, offering a side-by-side comparison of reported offenses over time. In 2024, Dorchester County reported the highest total crime rate at 4,632, while Caroline had the lowest at 2,798. Talbot County fell in between with 3,247. These trends help community stakeholders better understand the current state of public safety in the region.
