Mid-Shore Minority Population
This interactive dashboard presents a breakdown of the racial and ethnic minority population across Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot counties in Maryland’s Mid-Shore region, using the 2019–2023 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates.
The upper section displays a treemap visualization showing the proportional distribution of racial and ethnic groups within the total minority population. Below, bar charts provide a county-level comparison of population counts for each group.
The largest minority group in the region is Black or African American, making up 16.84% of the Mid-Shore population, followed by Hispanic (7.69%), and individuals identifying with two or more races (3.77%). Dorchester County has the highest number of Black or African American residents (8,268), while Talbot leads in Hispanic population (3,352).
This dashboard enables community leaders, planners, educators, and grant writers to better understand the demographic diversity of the region and support equity-driven decisions and resource planning.
